Role Overview
The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer serves as the primary technical resource supporting air-cooled chiller manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for improving manufacturing processes, resolving complex production issues, supporting new product introductions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Manufacturing Engineer partners with Operations, Quality, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Product Engineering to ensure safe and efficient manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day manufacturing engineering support for air-cooled chiller production operations.
- Lead resolution of complex manufacturing issues involving mechanical assemblies, electrical systems, controls, and testing processes.
- Identify and eliminate manufacturing constraints that impact safety, quality, delivery, or cost.
- Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes for mechanical assembly, electrical integration, and factory testing operations.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that improve product quality, throughput, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, work instructions, process flows, and standard operating procedures.
- Troubleshoot electrical assemblies, control panels, wiring systems, sensors, actuators, and communication networks.
- Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and controls documentation to support manufacturing operations.
- Troubleshoot mechanical assembly issues involving refrigeration systems, piping, structural assemblies, and electromechanical components.
- Support new product launches through process development, production readiness activities, and manufacturing validation.
- Participate in design reviews and provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Technology.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of manufacturing engineering or automation experience, with a strong background in process development and continuous improvement.
Technical Skills: Experience with mechanical assemblies (piping/fluid systems preferred), ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, and hands-on troubleshooting across mechanical and electrical systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.).
- Familiarity with MES integration and data collection systems.
- Exposure to Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
