Role Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on Network Automation Engineer with deep expertise in fiber access technologies and strong Python development skills. The ideal candidate will work directly with network devices, analyze real-time configurations, and develop automation solutions to optimize operations in a telecom access network environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Work directly with access network devices (ONTs and OLTs) to analyze configurations and operational data
Develop and implement Python-based automation scripts based on live device insights
Troubleshoot and optimize fiber access network performance
Interface with central office and customer premises equipment environments
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve network efficiency and automation coverage
Ensure secure and compliant access to network infrastructure
Required Skills & Experience:
Strong hands-on experience with:
ONT (Optical Network Terminal) infrastructure (primarily in central office environments)
OLT (Optical Line Terminal) systems at customer or field locations
Proven experience in Python programming for automation and scripting
Ability to independently access devices, interpret configurations, and develop solutions
Familiarity with telecom access network deployments
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Nokia and/or Calix network equipment 1
Background working on Verizon-like environments or similar (e.g., VNM-type roles) 1
Knowledge of network provisioning, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Candidate Profile:
Highly hands-on and comfortable working directly with network devices
Self-driven and capable of translating observations into automation solutions
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
