FTS has an opportunity for Space Systems Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO.

The Space Systems Engineer provides Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) services focused on support for systems engineering activities and protection of space systems.

Responsibilities
  • Directly contribute to government's mission success through comprehensive analysis, thought leadership and proactive action
  • Assist in planning and oversight of the government's systems engineering efforts
  • Support space protection and mission integration as directed by the government
  • Review documentation, represent government interests in forums that support streamlined delivery of new capabilities and standardization of integration efforts

Required Skills/Qualifications
  • TS/SCI with polygraph
  • BS STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) in engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in systems engineering processes (e.g. SE lifecycle, risk management, change management, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of integrating Government capabilities into operations baseline
  • Expert at defining solutions for broad, abstract topics; succinctly captures issues for the customer and provides analysis and recommendations
  • Ability to work independently and with a team, operate effectively with contractor, SETA, FFRDC, and Government teammates
  • Self-starter, anticipates and proactively addresses customer requirements with no supervision, ability to manage multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Polished communicator (written/verbal) with impeccable interpersonal skills and personal judgment
  • Master at collaboration and coordination with multiple stakeholders -- consensus builder

Desired Skills/Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of joint operations planning processes.
  • Real-time operations experience as a spacecraft or ground systems operator
  • Familiar with MBSE/Digital Engineering, AGILE development, cloud technologies
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence
  • Knowledge of satellite constellations, spacecraft orbit, and ground station characteristics
  • Knowledge of space protection topics related to satellite operations (e.g. launch, communications, navigation, maneuvers, etc.), threat/risk assessments, vulnerability analysis

Expected Salary Range: $115,000 - $132,000 per year. Placement within the range is determined by qualifications, job-related criteria, experience, internal equity and market considerations.
