Mechanical Tech I

Required Qualifications:

-1+ years of experience with: 

-Experience working with automotive engines or mechanical systems - must know how an engine works 

-Experience working in a technical environment.

-General engine knowledge through recent education or work experience as a mechanic.

-Monitoring and adjusting process control systems.

-Basic math skills (algebra).

-Excellent teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Basic computer skills, experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

 -Formal training in automotive technology, electronics, or automated control systems

 -Experience working shift work / off hours (highly desirable).

-Formal technical training in automotive mechanic/technology (ASE Certified or similar certification).

-Formal training in electronic instrumentation.

Red Flags:

· prior work in auotomotive assembly line (not a Tesla former)

· NOT skilled mechanic- this is an entry level role

· They must have(had) "project cars" that they work on on their own and are passionate about

Good to know:

· Balance between interest and passion, but not a 10 year experienced mechanic-

Lab environment, safety sensitive, following procedures – coolant, fuel, oil.

· Need to know how to work on an engine- 4 stroke combustion engine

· Perfect match- right out of high school, trade school, or community college where mechanic courses have been taken

· Computer knowledge - Control systems vary- as an operator: looking at the screen and looking at numbers to make sure that specifications are within specs - Microsoft tools- nothing too high-level

· This is the entry level position for a long term opportunity – 4 different paths that they can take after this – mechanic, blender (fuel/tanks), vehicle technician (setting up testing/training), and raters (working with the numbers and performance feedback)
