Software Engineer III (AI-Native Systems)

Position Overview

We are seeking an innovative Software Engineer III to build the AI-native systems that will fundamentally change how our organization operates. This is not a standard role for wiring up business logic behind a form. Instead, the goal is to take processes that currently depend on manual data entry and rebuild them into agentic workflows—software that reasons over organizational data, takes action against systems of record, and maintains human-in-the-loop checkpoints where judgment is required.

You will design and build the data platform, full-stack applications, and the agent/tool layers using modern AI-assisted development as a core part of your daily workflow.

Key Responsibilities

• Agentic Workflows: Design and build agentic workflows operating against real operational data, including tool/function interfaces, context and retrieval strategies, evaluation harnesses, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints for safe autonomous action.

• Data Layer & ORM Modeling: Design and implement entity and object schemas in a custom ORM-style data framework, complete with authorization and validation rules so that agents and applications read/write through a single governed layer.

• Full-Stack Applications: Build full-stack web applications using Next.js (React and TypeScript), API routes, and modern frontend patterns, featuring interfaces for reviewing, approving, and correcting agent-initiated work.

• Enterprise Integrations: Build and extend integrations with enterprise systems of record, including custom objects, triggers, automation, mutation/validation logic, and reporting.

• API & System Transitions: Define API contracts, data migration strategies, and rollback/conflict-resolution patterns for systems running in parallel during transitions.

• AI-First Workflow: Utilize AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or equivalent) as a core part of daily implementation, code review, and refactoring.

• Operations Partnership: Identify manual, high-friction business processes with operations stakeholders, propose and ship agentic/automated replacements, and measure time/cost recovery.

• On-Call & Support: Participate in team on-call rotations for built tools, triaging and resolving production issues in internal systems.

Required Qualifications & Must-Have Skills

• Experience Band: 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

• Tools Engineering (Full Stack): Strong proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, and modern React frameworks (Next.js preferred).

• GraphQL / PHP / ORM Framework Experience: Strong SQL, relational data modeling, entity-modeling frameworks, ORMs, and GraphQL schema design experience.

• AI Development Workflows: Demonstrated experience building LLM-backed features in production (tool/function calling, retrieval, prompt/context engineering, evaluation of non-deterministic output). Must use AI coding assistants as a primary daily development workflow.

• Architecture & Delivery: Sound judgment regarding system autonomy vs. human gates, with strong command of the full SDLC from analysis to delivery and production troubleshooting.

Preferred & Nice-to-Have Skills

• Next.js / Vercel: Advanced deployment and framework experience.

• Salesforce and CRM Knowledge: Hands-on experience with enterprise CRM or ERP platform development.

• Agent Frameworks: Experience with agent frameworks, orchestration, multi-step tool use, and LLM evaluation/regression testing.

• Big Data & Streaming: Experience with data warehouses (Hive, Spark, BigQuery, Snowflake) or distributed event-streaming/message-bus systems (Kafka, Pulsar, Kinesis).
