VMware-to-Hyper-V Migration SME / Senior Systems Engineer

Introduction

We are looking for a VMware-to-Hyper-V Migration SME / Senior Systems Engineer with proven hands-on experience migrating production VMware environments to Microsoft Hyper-V. This role involves owning the migration planning, execution, validation, and post-migration support for a time-sensitive infrastructure migration project. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for installing and validating Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC) and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE/NAC) on Hyper-V as part of the migration process.

Responsibilities

• Assess the existing VMware infrastructure, virtual machines, storage, and network dependencies
• Design and configure the target Hyper-V environment
• Plan and execute a phased production VMware-to-Hyper-V migration with minimal downtime
• Configure Hyper-V hosts, storage, networking, and virtual switches
• Migrate production workloads and support migration windows
• Install and validate Cisco FMC and Cisco ISE on Hyper-V
• Perform post-migration validation for applications, databases, networking, backups, and performance
• Implement rollback and recovery procedures
• Troubleshoot migration-related issues and optimize the new environment
• Create migration documentation, validation reports, and knowledge transfer for the operations team

Requirements

Must-Have Skills:

• Strong experience with VMware ESXi and vCenter administration
• Proven experience performing production VMware-to-Hyper-V migrations
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Hyper-V host deployment and configuration
• Experience migrating Windows Server virtual machines and workloads
• Strong knowledge of virtual networking including VLANs, virtual switches, DNS, IP addressing, and routing
• Experience with storage migration, virtual disks, and infrastructure dependencies
• Experience creating backup, replication, rollback, and disaster recovery strategies
• Ability to validate compute, networking, storage, security, and application functionality after migration
• Strong troubleshooting skills across virtualization, networking, storage, and Windows infrastructure

Ideal Candidate

• 8+ years of systems engineering/infrastructure experience
• Multiple successful VMware-to-Hyper-V production migration projects completed end-to-end
• Strong Windows Server, virtualization, networking, and infrastructure migration expertise
• Able to work independently and communicate effectively with infrastructure leadership during the migration lifecycle
