Our Modular Data Center business is growing rapidly, and we're seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team supporting cooling system design, structural engineering, and mechanical documentation throughout tendering, execution, factory build, testing, and closeout. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Management- Lead, mentor, and develop Cooling, Structural, and Mechanical Engineers.
- Drive accountability, ownership, and on-time engineering delivery.
- Provide coaching, performance reviews, and growth opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative, transparent, learning-focused team culture.
- Strengthen partnerships across internal stakeholders to align engineering output with business needs.
Technical Oversight & Engineering Excellence- Oversee design of cooling, ventilation, humidity control, and air-management systems for modular data centers.
- Lead structural engineering efforts including load analysis, stress evaluation, seismic compliance, and FEA simulations.
- Own accuracy, quality, and timely release of all mechanical/structural documentation (cooling calcs, schedules, SOOs, CFD/FEA outputs, drawings, BOMs).
- Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, IMC, IECC, IBC, NFPA, and refrigerant safety codes.
- Lead DFMEA and other risk-analysis activities and support standardization of engineering methodologies.
KPI & Performance Management- Define and track KPIs for engineering delivery, quality, defect reduction, cycle time, and RFI responsiveness.
- Present KPI trends to leadership and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
Cross Functional Collaboration- Support factory build, integration, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
- Provide timely responses to RFIs and customer-driven changes.
- Collaborate closely with PMs, Technical Leaders, Electrical Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Commissioning teams.
- Participate in customer meetings and design reviews.
Continuous Improvement & Gap Closure- Identify gaps in standards, tools, processes, and team capability.
- Lead lessons-learned activities and drive improvements across mechanical and structural engineering.
- Standardize templates, workflows, and verification tools while promoting innovation and process optimization.
Project Execution & Lifecycle Management- Oversee mechanical/structural engineering deliverables across tender, execution, factory build, and commissioning.
- Manage resource allocation and scheduling across multiple projects.
- Support site integration and commissioning teams (up to 15% travel).
- Ensure effective revision control and documentation accuracy.
What qualifications would make you successful?- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of mechanical and/or structural engineering experience (cooling, modular construction, or industrial systems).
- 3+ years of engineering leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, thermal systems, airflow management, and structural engineering.
- Expertise with FMEA/structured problem solving and risk mitigation.
