Project Summary
Communications department in San Francisco is in need of a temporary, project-based web content strategist to manage, design and write content for the website and the employee intranet, and partner with IT Department’s Digital Services Team to make website enhancements to improve internal and external user experiences. The successful candidate will work on the following:
• Implementing a new translation tool for the website including operationalizing and training after the launch of the new tool.
• Online Resource Directory: supporting the digital launch of a directory for the Department of Disability and Aging Services that features a comprehensive, interactive listing of available services and referrals to specific programs and services for older adults and adults with disabilities.
• Content manager and strategist for the website and the intranet. • Training for content authors for the website and intranet.
• Supporting digital outreach and marketing campaigns for various programs and initiatives.
Desirable Qualifications:
• Proven experience in the role as web content manager and web editor with strong copywriting skills focused on accessibility, cultural competency, and user experience.
• Experience working in the Drupal content management system.
• Excellent creative and visual skills. Proficiency with digital photography, videography and related digital tools strongly desired.
• Knowledge of UX principles to achieve functional, service-oriented and attractive digital environments for users to explore and quickly find what they are looking for.
• Experience using an agile or other iterative approach to design, develop and deploy websites.
• Direct experience in communications project management: vendor selection, exceptional organizational skills, and experience managing multiple projects (timelines, budgets, priorities) simultaneously.
• Knowledge of Digital Accessibility standards and implementation tools.
• Excellent relationship and consensus building skills.
• Knowledge of San Francisco’s diverse communities and how audiences access information digitally.
Must Have
Portfolio or Work Samples, including: o Links to Drupal websites the candidate has worked on or managed o Description of the candidate’s specific role on each site o Examples of content strategy, information architecture, web governance framework, and/or site audit or optimization work • Example of a web strategy document (may be redacted), a UX recommendation brief, roadmap document, example of a governance framework, or a roadmap document. • Proof of certifications, if applicable. Deep understanding in user experience and website metrics (4 years). Acceptable documentation includes: • Resume that documents experience with UX strategy and website analytics, including tools used, scope of responsibility, and measurable outcomes where UX and analytics informed decisions. • One work sample (may contain redactions) that demonstrates analysis of website metrics and/or user experience findings, including recommendations informed by data. • Optional documentation (preferred, not required): o UX certification o Drupal UX-related contributions o Google Analytics certification o Accessibility training (WCAG 2.1/2.2) |
