This role supports the development of designs, technical documents, and operational plans for tolling projects. You will assist with research, basic analysis, and project documentation alongside the project team, contributing to projects of various sizes.

You'll build familiarity with toll operations, including roadside equipment, system layouts, and back-office processes. You'll support the team by preparing draft plans, organizing project data, performing calculations, and using current tools and templates to help move projects forward. As part of the team, you will play a key role in delivering successful tolling projects for HNTB's clients, supporting system upgrades, operational improvements, and new tolling initiatives.

What You'll Do:
  • Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.
  • Responsible for preparation and/or modification for select portions of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.
  • Develops project quantities and assists with development of cost estimates.
  • Assists engineering teams with organization and administrative support of design files.
  • Able to self-sufficiently complete various tasks and duties including but not limited to research, data collection, field investigations, development, and design of projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience, or
  • Master's degree in Engineering and 1 year of relevant experience

What You'll Bring:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and project documentation.
  • Ability to interpret plans, diagrams, or technical drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to organize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Displays proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), and MicroStation and/or AutoCad or other software as required for job assignments.

What We Prefer:
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • Familiarity with tolling concepts such as roadside systems, gantries, lane equipment, or back-office processes.
  • Experience or coursework involving transportation systems, traffic operations, or intelligent transportation systems (ITS).
  • Basic understanding of data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, etc.).
