Summary

DTS is looking for Technical Delivery Manager for our direct client Position in Auburn Hills, MI

Job Description:

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Delivery Manager (TDM) to lead the delivery of software initiatives within a fast-paced, Agile product development environment. This is a highly technical delivery role that combines software delivery leadership, project management, technical problem-solving, risk management, and stakeholder communication.

This position is not a traditional Project Manager or Scrum Master role. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation—potentially beginning their career in software development, architecture, systems design, or a similar technical discipline—and will be comfortable diving into technical issues alongside development teams.

The Technical Delivery Manager will work closely with software engineers, technical business analysts, product teams, architects, and business stakeholders to ensure successful delivery while maintaining a strong understanding of the systems and architecture supporting the product.

Position Details

  • Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
  • Schedule: Hybrid – Monday through Thursday onsite, Friday remote
  • Environment: Agile software/product development
  • Technology Environment: Java, React, Node.js, Azure, APIs, Microservices, iOS/Android

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end technical delivery of software features, enhancements, and initiatives.
  • Lead Agile ceremonies including daily standups, backlog grooming, sprint planning, and development workshops.
  • Monitor development team capacity, sprint commitments, project timelines, and overall delivery.
  • Identify and remove blockers impacting software development teams.
  • Partner closely with Technical Business Analysts, Product Owners, developers, architects, and business stakeholders.
  • Ensure upcoming features and initiatives are properly planned, estimated, and prepared for development.
  • Understand technical requirements and evaluate the feasibility of proposed solutions.
  • Develop high-level project estimates, including effort, resource requirements, staffing needs, timelines, and cost considerations.
  • Identify technical and delivery risks early and communicate potential issues before they impact delivery.
  • Participate directly in troubleshooting, production support, and major incident triage.
  • Review application logs and technical information to help identify root causes of system issues.
  • Understand API behavior, service dependencies, application architecture, and how data moves between systems.
  • Work with development and architecture teams to solution new features within an existing microservices environment.
  • Provide clear and accurate updates to leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • Drive issues toward resolution rather than simply escalating problems to technical teams.
  • Continuously build an understanding of the applications, systems, and architecture supported by the team.
  •

Required Qualifications

  • Strong experience leading the delivery of software development initiatives in an Agile environment.
  • Demonstrated technical background with a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle.
  • Working knowledge of microservices architecture, APIs, application integrations, and modern software systems.
  • Ability to understand and discuss the technology stack supporting a software product.
  • Experience working directly with software developers, architects, technical business analysts, and Product teams.
  • Hands-on involvement in production troubleshooting, technical triage, or major incident management.
  • Ability to analyze technical problems rather than relying exclusively on developers or architects for answers.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities, dependencies, risks, sprint commitments, and delivery timelines.
  • Strong estimation and planning skills for upcoming software projects and features.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and executive presence.
  • Ability to proactively identify risks and communicate issues before they negatively impact delivery.
  • Strong curiosity and a self-sufficient approach to learning systems and solving problems.
  •

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous hands-on experience as a Software Developer, Software Engineer, Systems Engineer, Architect, or similar technical role.
  • Experience delivering applications built with Java, React, Node.js, or similar modern technologies.
  • Experience working within Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs and microservices architecture.
  • Experience reviewing application logs and using monitoring/troubleshooting tools such as Splunk.
  • Understanding of networking concepts, application hosting, service dependencies, and distributed systems.
  • Experience taking software products or major features from initial solution/design through production release.
  • Experience supporting high-volume or fast-paced software environments with frequent Agile releases.
  • Experience developing technical estimates and resource/staffing plans for software initiatives.
  •

What Success Looks Like

A successful Technical Delivery Manager is more than a coordinator between business and technology teams. This individual should be capable of understanding the technology well enough to independently investigate issues, ask meaningful technical questions, and help drive solutions.

When a production issue occurs, the TDM should be comfortable understanding which services and APIs are involved, reviewing available logs and errors, identifying dependencies, and determining the appropriate path toward resolution.

The ideal candidate brings together three core strengths:

  • Communication & Executive Presence: Clearly communicates with technical teams, business stakeholders, and leadership while proactively managing expectations.
  • Risk Management: Identifies technical and delivery risks early and develops plans to mitigate them.
  • Technical Software Delivery: Consistently delivers software while maintaining enough technical depth to participate meaningfully in solutioning, troubleshooting, and incident triage.

DTS offers excellent compensation package.
