Location: Bridgeton, Missouri (Onsite)
Role Overview
This role supports the migration of a Windows-based system to a Linux desktop environment for an IoT platform. The position is primarily focused on hands-on development (approximately 90%) with some design responsibilities (approximately 10%). Responsibilities include converting existing Windows desktop applications to Linux and hardening the operating system by securing and locking down system components under the direction of a senior engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute the migration and porting of applications from Windows to a Linux environment.
- Design and implement Linux desktop and IoT solutions based on business requirements.
- Collaborate with software teams to ensure design and system requirements are met.
- Develop software for IoT-based products as part of an existing team.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
- Assist with solving technical problems and navigate ambiguity in tasks.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience is required.
Experience: 5+ years of software development and design, including solid experience in Linux development. A proven track record of designing, building, and launching customer-facing products is necessary.
Technical Skills:- Experience with cloud platforms, IoT, C#, and Azure.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies.
- Familiarity with languages such as Bash, JavaScript, Typescript, SQL, C#, and C++.
- Understanding of RESTful API design.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency with AI-assisted tooling is preferred.
- Understanding of Service-Oriented Architectures.
- Experience working with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
- Experience with Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes for containerizing workloads.
- Experience working with Azure IoT solutions.
- Knowledge of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, Blazor, or Razor Script.
- Familiarity with Git-based version control (GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket) and IDEs (Visual Studio, VS Code, JetBrains).
