Control-M/Workload Automation Support Engineer
Secure File Transfer & Job Automation
Contract (12 Months) - Conversion Possible
Remote (U.S.) | EST
Pay range: $25 - $35 per hour
Overview
We are seeking a Windows-based Production Support Engineer to support secure file transfers and workload automation within a large, enterprise healthcare environment.
This role focuses on troubleshooting production job failures, secure data transfers, and connectivity issues across internal teams, states, and third-party partners.
Tool-specific training (Control-M) will be provided; strong foundational infrastructure knowledge is required.
What You'll Be Doing
Support and troubleshoot batch job scheduling and workload automation processes
Monitor and resolve file transfer failures (SFTP, encrypted transfers, trading partner exchanges)
Investigate connectivity issues involving ports, firewalls, and network communication
Support public/private key authentication and encrypted file handshakes (SSH/PGP)
Work daily ticket queues (Level 2/3 production support)
Communicate with internal teams and external entities during on-call rotations
Document troubleshooting steps and maintain operational runbooks
Assist with process improvements to improve automation and resiliency
Required Qualifications
2+ years of hands-on experience in Windows Server troubleshooting
Experience supporting secure file transfers (SFTP, SSH, PGP, Managed File Transfer platforms)
Understanding of public vs. private key authentication
Working knowledge of TCP/IP, ports, firewalls, and connectivity troubleshooting
Experience reviewing logs and diagnosing production job failures
Comfortable working in ticketing systems (ServiceNow or similar)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Experience
Exposure to batch scheduling tools (Control-M, Autosys, JAMS, Tidal, etc.)
Experience in healthcare or regulated environments
Familiarity with EDI or trading partner file exchanges
Basic PowerShell scripting experience
