The Data Modeler is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining logical and physical data models that support enterprise platforms, including ITSM/CMDB ecosystems. This role ensures data consistency, scalability, and alignment with business and technical requirements, enabling high-quality data for operational and analytical use.
Key Responsibilities- Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models across enterprise platforms
- Define data structures, relationships, standards, and naming conventions
- Partner with Configuration Manager and CMDB Analyst to align CMDB data models with ITIL and platform requirements
- Translate business requirements into scalable data architectures
- Develop and maintain data dictionaries, metadata, and lineage documentation
- Ensure consistency and integrity across integrated systems (ITSM, cloud platforms, enterprise apps)
- Support CMDB schema design, including CI classes, attributes, and relationships
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and data engineering teams on integrations and data flows
- Identify opportunities for data normalization, optimization, and standardization
- Enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices
- Support reporting, analytics, and AI/automation initiatives through well-structured data models
- Participate in platform upgrades, migrations, and transformation initiatives
Required Qualifications- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in data modeling, data architecture, or database design
- Strong expertise in data modeling techniques (ER modeling, normalization, dimensional modeling)
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB)
- Experience with enterprise platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, ERP, CRM systems)
- Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and metadata management
- Proficiency with data modeling tools (e.g., ER/Studio, ERwin, Lucidchart, or similar)
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical data structures
- Strong analytical and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with ServiceNow CMDB data model and Common Service Data Model (CSDM)
- Exposure to cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS)
- Experience with APIs, integrations, and data pipelines
- Familiarity with reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau)
- Knowledge of scripting or query languages (SQL, Python)
- Certification in data management or architecture (e.g., DAMA, TOGAF)
