Job Title: MuleSoft Architect (Banking & Platform Integration) Role Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced MuleSoft Architect to lead the design, development, Integration and governance of enterprise-grade APIs and integrations supporting an M&A in a Bank.

This role will drive architectural standards, API strategy, External systems and cloud-native integration across the Banking ecosystem. The ideal candidate is a hands-on architect who combines deep technical expertise with leadership, mentoring, and cross-team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities Architecture & Design

• Define and implement enterprise API architecture using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform.
• Establish API-led connectivity strategy (System, Process, Experience APIs) to connect various systems.
• Architect secure, scalable integrations across various payment products like IBS, D3, TSYS, Mastercard,MDES, VTS and more .
• Design reusable frameworks, custom policies, components, and shared services.
• Create wrapper APIs leveraging Anypoint Platform Management APIs for automation.

API Governance & Security

• Lead API lifecycle management from design to retirement.
• Implement OIDC-based security with MuleSoft as a Resource Server.
• Configure API Gateway policies (out-of-box and custom).
• Define and enforce API security models for providers and consumers.
• Establish data governance, cataloging, and compliance standards.
• Implement JWT validation and secure token flows.
• Integrate with OIDC providers (e.g., AWS Cognito).

Development & Engineering Excellence

• Develop high-quality Mule applications and Mule flows.
• Lead DataWeave transformations (advanced mappings, grouping, splitting).
• Implement error handling, transaction tracing, and observability.
• Apply OpenAPI Specification (OAS) standards.
• Build integrations using Mule connectors (HTTP, Kafka, JMS, DB, File, SFTP, CICS TG).
• Deploy solutions on MuleSoft Runtime Fabric (RTF).
• Guide performance testing and optimization for latency, scalability, and resilience.

Cloud & DevOps

• Architect AWS-based integration environments (EC2, S3, CloudWatch, Route 53, Load Balancers, CloudFormation).
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using Git, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline.
• Enable automated deployment pipelines from dev to production.
• Set up API analytics integrations (Splunk, dashboards).

Leadership & Collaboration

• Mentor developers and integration engineers on MuleSoft best practices.
• Assist teams in adopting API-led connectivity and governance standards.
• Participate in architectural design reviews and agile ceremonies.
• Provide accurate effort estimation and technical risk assessment.
• Work collaboratively with globally distributed teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
• 12+ years of application development and integration experience.
• 7+ years of hands-on MuleSoft and Anypoint Platform experience.
• Strong expertise in:
  • API-led connectivity
  • DataWeave
  • API Manager & Gateway
  • OAS (OpenAPI Specification)
  • Mule Runtime Fabric
  • Performance tuning and optimization
• Experience integrating with:
  • Mainframe (IBM CICS Transaction Gateway)
  • Kafka
  • MongoDB
  • AWS Redshift
• Hands-on experience implementing OIDC, JWT-based security.
• Strong understanding of API Provider and Consumer lifecycle.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps automation.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud infrastructure and security configurations.
• Working knowledge of Java and/or Python preferred.

Preferred Certifications

• MuleSoft Certified Platform Architect or Integration Architect
• AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or higher
• Other relevant cloud or API certifications
