Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Azure Cosmos DB Developer with strong hands-on expertise in designing, developing, implementing, and supporting large-scale, mission-critical applications using Azure Cosmos DB. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of NoSQL data modeling, partitioning, performance optimization, high availability, and distributed systems.

The candidate will be responsible for building highly available, high-throughput, scalable solutions while balancing development, architecture, production support, troubleshooting, and database performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize Azure Cosmos DB solutions for high-volume transactional workloads.

• Develop effective Cosmos DB data models, partition key strategies, indexing policies, and data lifecycle management approaches.

• Architect highly available, resilient, and scalable solutions leveraging Cosmos DB best practices.

• Optimize RU consumption, throughput, latency, query performance, and overall database performance.

• Analyze and resolve production issues, performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and database-related incidents.

• Support day-to-day operational activities including deployments, schema/data evolution, capacity planning, and incident resolution.

• Design and implement multi-region Cosmos DB deployments, global distribution, and high-availability solutions.

• Implement and support backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and data replication strategies.

• Work with application, infrastructure, cloud, DevOps, and architecture teams to ensure optimal integration with Azure services.

• Monitor Cosmos DB environments using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics, and other observability tools.

• Establish operational procedures, technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and database best practices.

• Participate in production support, root-cause analysis, performance tuning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering and database development experience.

• 3+ years of hands-on Azure Cosmos DB experience in production environments.

• Strong expertise in:

  • Cosmos DB data modeling and partitioning strategies

  • Query optimization and performance tuning

  • Throughput and Request Unit (RU) optimization

  • Indexing policies and index management

  • Change Feed processing

  • Multi-region deployment and global distribution

  • High availability and disaster recovery

  • Cosmos DB consistency models and replication

  • Monitoring and observability

• Experience supporting high-volume, always-on enterprise applications.

• Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and NoSQL database concepts.

• Hands-on experience with Azure services such as Azure Functions, App Services, AKS, Event Hubs, Azure Monitor, and Application Insights.

• Experience troubleshooting production database issues and performing root-cause analysis.

• Strong understanding of scalability, resiliency, fault tolerance, and performance engineering.

• Experience working in Agile development and production-support environments.
