Tyler Technologies' Annapolis, MD office is looking to hire a Senior User Experience Researcher (UXR) leads high-impact research initiatives that shape strategic product decisions across Tyler Technologies' software portfolio. As a seasoned expert, you independently design and execute complex studies, influence product strategy, and mentor others in UX research best practices. You bring a Human Centered Design strategic lens to your work, integrating behavioral data and usage analytics with qualitative findings to provide a comprehensive view of the user experience. You're a trusted partner across product teams-known for transforming insights into innovation and helping ensure that design and development efforts are grounded in user-centered thinking.

As our Senior User Experience Researcher (UXR), you will lead end-to-end research efforts that uncover deep insights and directly inform product direction. With a high level of autonomy, Senior UXR shapes research initiatives, mentors peers, and builds alignment around user needs through compelling storytelling and data-driven recommendations. This role frequently operates as the primary researcher across one or more product teams, driving outcomes that reduce design and development risk, improve customer satisfaction, and ensure that Tyler's software is designed for real-world success. Senior UXR also contributes to the growth of UX maturity across the organization by championing research best practices and advocating for the strategic value of user insight.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead research planning and execution for complex, strategic projects with minimal oversight
  • Identify the most effective research methodologies for each initiative and adapt methods as necessary to meet evolving goals
  • Owns research recruitment processes, research repositories (Maze, Dovetail, Lookback, etc.), consent and privacy practices, and tool selection
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to produce clear, actionable insights that directly inform product direction and strategy
  • Deliver highly polished presentations and reports that effectively communicate research findings to senior stakeholders and executives
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including product owners, designers, developers to plan execute and manage research efforts of varying degrees of complexity to meet product goals; may involve client interaction at times
  • Ensure research findings answer the right questions, address root problems of varying degrees of complexity, and translate into real-world design recommendations
  • Create and evolve frameworks such as personas, journey maps, and service blueprints to inform product and organizational strategy
  • Mentor junior researchers and advocate for UX research best practices across teams
  • Champion the integration of behavioral analytics and usage data into research planning and interpretation
  • Drive a culture of user-centered decision-making by building strong relationships with product, development, design, and leadership teams
  • Proactively identify opportunities where user research can add strategic value and lead initiatives from concept to implementation

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, HCI, human factors, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in UX research, with a demonstrated track record of leading impactful studies and influencing product direction
  • Documented use cases demonstrating a strong understanding of research methodologies and data analysis, including projects from initiation through completion
  • Strong expertise in qualitative research methods, with working knowledge of quantitative approaches such as survey design, survey analysis, and basic analytics interpretation; experience with mixed methods when appropriate to project goals
  • Proficient identifying usability and related gaps with expertise handling root cause analysis and problem resolution
  • Strong experience using usage analytics and behavioral data to supplement research findings
  • Excellent storytelling and presentation skills with the ability to persuade, influence, and inspire action among senior stakeholders
  • Proven experience mentoring others and advocating for UX research across an organization
  • Experience balancing strategic and tactical research needs in a fast-paced product environment
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and leading initiatives with broad impact across products or business units
