Summary

Join Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi as a Senior Systems Analyst and be a part of the movement to transform patient care through advanced technology. This role is vital to the organization as it bridges the gap between clinical needs and IT solutions, by optimizing critical healthcare systems that empower medical staff and improve patient outcomes.

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi is seeking three advanced, highly technical Information Technology professionals responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining complex business systems that interface mainframe applications and databases to process claims and facilitate member benefits through an Interplan Teleprocessing System (ITS). Each of these roles supports a distinct operational function which heavily interfaces with ITS.

Acting as senior technical advisors, these Senior Systems Analysts bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions, providing expertise in software, hardware and network infrastructure. While each of these Analysts maintain and provide support for different BCBSMS programs, each Analyst is the technical subject matter expert that provides skilled consultative services. As members of the applications management team, the Senior Systems Analysts maintain systems and provide production on-call support and technical issue resolution. Software releases are also implemented by these positions.

If you are a problem-solver with a passion for healthcare technology, a collaborative team environment, and driving meaningful operational efficiency, we want you on our team!

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing business needs to create technical solutions, including complex coding structures, to ensure claims system modifications meet business objective and customer expectations.
  • Guiding project teams, overseeing project workflows and providing consultative support while managing the implementation of software/system updates and providing post implementation assistance.
  • Ensuring that all systems documentation is updated and remains current.
  • Conducting system integration testing, user acceptance testing and regression analysis to ensure that new code or fixes have not introduced new issues.

The Senior Systems Analyst is an agile communicator, able to explain technical information to non-technical users, shifting gears when the intended information is not understood. Approaching complex problems with a strategic mindset, this role sees the big picture and evaluates each decision or tactical fix to ensure viability as a sustainable solution. This Analyst can see the hidden problems and looks beyond the obvious to identify the root cause rather than visible symptoms.

This position requires:

  • Bachelor of Science in computer science, math or related field
  • Seven years' experience of mainframe programming in COBOL, MVS utilities, MVS JCL, and CICS Command Level programming.
  • Five years experience with mainframe systems analysis and design
  • Development proficiency in COBOL programs that interact with DB2 databases
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Availability to provide 24x7 support in after-hours, weekend and holiday on call rotation.

Preferred include:

  • Proficiency with PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Experience with Linux scripts and/or C programming
  • Working familiarity with Easytrieve.

What to Expect:

A work environment with a focus on your health that allows you to thrive. The walking track, onsite gym and caf are just a few of the highlights of the campus. Monthly Team Blue events allow you to meet new people and quickly become a member of the family.

With a highly competitive compensation package that includes medical benefits, 401k, ample paid time off and a schedule that supports true work/life balance, you could continue your career in an organization that is focused on building a healthier Mississippi.

How to Apply and the Process:

  • Set up a Workday account and complete your application process.
  • Attach a copy of a resume and cover letter.
  • Check your email for updates.
  • Processes may include phone screen, testing, in-person interview (s), background and drug testing.
