Summary

Flowserve is seeking an analytical, detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Student Intern to support our operations team. This role bridges the gap between hands-on industrial shop operations and data management. You will work closely with our engineering and shop floor teams to manage technical documentation, capture precision build metrics, and ensure high-quality documentation packages are delivered to our customers.

This internship offers an exceptional foundation in industrial fluid dynamics, providing structured training on pump types, designs, mechanical seals, and real-world field reliability characteristics.

Core Responsibilities
  • Technical Data Transfer: Review manual, handwritten dimensional records from the shop floor-including component clearances, outer diameters (ODs), inner diameters (IDs), and lengths-and accurately transcribe them into electronic master templates.
  • Documentation Management: Compile and organize complete customer "job packages," including dimensional data sheets, material certificates, balance certificates, and hydrostatic/air test certifications.
  • Engineering & Sales Support: Coordinate directly with sales teams to hand off finished job packs and collaborate with engineering personnel on technical documentation tasks to gain cross-functional business insights.
  • Shop Floor Engagement: Participate actively in visual learning and shop walkthroughs alongside a collaborative team of experienced technicians and engineers.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Academic Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical field.
  • Software Proficiency: Strong computer literacy, with specific proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and professional email communications.
  • Schedule Commitment: Ability to commit to approximately 30 hours per week (ideally structured as 4-5 hours per day, or every other day). Note: We are highly flexible and will align the work schedule with your university class calendar, provided a class schedule is shared upfront.
  • Mindset: Driven by career self-betterment, possesses strong attention to detail, and is eager to learn about heavy rotating equipment.
