Principal Salesforce Technical Architect

Client is seeking a Principal Salesforce Technical Architect to provide strategic technology leadership for its global Salesforce Commercial Platforms IT organization. This role will be responsible for defining enterprise Salesforce architecture, driving technical standards and governance, and leading the adoption of emerging Salesforce technologies including Health Cloud, Experience Cloud, Agent force, Data Cloud, and AI capabilities.
The ideal candidate will combine strong hands-on Salesforce development expertise with enterprise architecture, business consulting, integration, and technical leadership experience. The architect will partner closely with Commercial and IT leadership, product owners, solution architects, and globally distributed delivery teams across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC.
Key Responsibilities
Salesforce Architecture & Technical Leadership
- Serve as the Principal Salesforce Technical Architect for the enterprise Salesforce platform.
- Define and govern Salesforce architecture, standards, reusable design patterns, and best practices.
- Design scalable end-to-end solutions covering applications, data, integrations, security, automation, and AI.
- Lead architecture governance, technology roadmaps, platform modernization, and technical-debt reduction.
- Evaluate emerging Salesforce technologies and recommend adoption strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Salesforce developers, administrators, and technical leads.
Business Consulting & Solution Architecture
- Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, and IT leadership to understand business objectives and technical requirements.
- Lead discovery sessions, business workshops, technical design sessions, and architecture reviews.
- Translate business requirements into scalable Salesforce architectures and implementation roadmaps.
- Develop architecture diagrams, technical specifications, integration designs, and solution documentation.
- Assess technical feasibility, estimate level of effort, identify risks, and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Act as a trusted advisor for Salesforce platform strategy and enterprise technology decisions.
Salesforce Development & Engineering
- Design and implement scalable solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flows, Platform Events, and Salesforce APIs.
- Architect secure Experience Cloud solutions for customers, partners, and employees.
- Design authentication and authorization solutions using SSO, SAML, OAuth, JIT provisioning, and Salesforce security models.
- Apply Salesforce data-sharing, security, scalability, and performance best practices.
- Develop modern front-end solutions using JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, JSON, REST APIs, and modern UI frameworks.
- Build AI-powered solutions leveraging Agentforce, Prompt Builder, Data Cloud, and Salesforce AI capabilities.
Integration & Platform Reliability
- Lead enterprise Salesforce integrations using REST, SOAP, Platform Events, WebMethods, middleware, and external APIs.
- Integrate Salesforce with enterprise platforms, identity providers, CMS solutions, and applications such as AEM.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and conduct root-cause analysis.
- Perform code and architecture reviews to ensure quality, scalability, security, and maintainability.
- Support implementation, SIT, UAT, deployment, and production stabilization activities.
Delivery & Governance
- Provide technical leadership across Salesforce initiatives supporting Neuromodulation and Pelvic Health business units.
- Remove technical roadblocks and proactively manage technical risks.
- Collaborate with globally distributed teams across Americas, EMEA, and APAC.
- Establish and enforce Salesforce development, integration, security, and deployment standards.
- Support Agile/Scrum teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 12+ years of overall IT experience.
- 10+ years of hands-on Salesforce development and architecture experience.
- Proven experience leading enterprise-scale Salesforce implementations from architecture through production delivery.
- Strong expertise in Salesforce architecture, data modeling, security, scalability, and performance optimization.
- Hands-on experience with Apex, LWC, Flows, Platform Events, APIs, and Salesforce configuration/development.
- Strong experience integrating Salesforce with enterprise applications using REST, SOAP, middleware, WebMethods, and Platform Events.
- Experience with Git/Bitbucket, CI/CD, DevOps, and Salesforce deployment tools such as Copado.
- Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills.
- Experience working with globally distributed and cross-functional teams.
- Strong experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Salesforce Certified Application Architect or System Architect.
- Experience with Experience Cloud Consultant, Sales Cloud Consultant, Service Cloud Consultant, or Health Cloud certifications/accreditation.
- Hands-on experience with Health Cloud, Experience Cloud, Agentforce, Data Cloud, Prompt Builder, and Salesforce AI.
- Experience architecting Experience Cloud portals supporting large numbers of external users.
- Healthcare or other highly regulated industry experience.
- Experience with secure customer, partner, or patient-facing portals.
- Experience with large-scale CRM transformation or Sales Enablement programs.
- Strong understanding of enterprise integration, identity management, and secure external access.
