Role Overview
Seeking an experienced DevSecOps / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join a forward-thinking team in Washington, DC. This role combines security-focused DevOps practices with site reliability engineering to ensure the stability, scalability, and security of mission-critical AWS cloud environments.
The ideal candidate will lead the integration of security into cloud-native development workflows, design resilient infrastructure, and implement automated CI/CD pipelines that enable secure, zero-downtime deployments. Key Responsibilities
CI/CD Pipeline Development
- Design, implement, and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy.
- Ensure automated, efficient, and secure deployment processes.
Deployment Strategy
- Implement blue/green deployment models to support zero-downtime releases.
- Ensure reliable rollback mechanisms and deployment stability.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Provision and manage global AWS infrastructure using Terraform and AWS CDK (Python).
- Maintain scalable, resilient, and automated cloud environments.
Security Integration
- Integrate security scanning tools (SAST, DAST, SCA) within CI/CD workflows.
- Identify and remediate vulnerabilities early in the development lifecycle.
Site Reliability Engineering
- Monitor application and infrastructure health to ensure high availability.
- Proactively respond to incidents, vulnerabilities, and performance issues.
Collaboration & Governance
- Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to enforce best practices.
- Support cloud governance, secure coding standards, and compliance initiatives.
Documentation
- Maintain comprehensive documentation on deployment procedures, security configurations, and operational standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS core services (IAM, EC2, Lambda, S3, CloudFormation).
- Experience designing secure and scalable cloud-native architectures.
Automation & Programming
- Advanced proficiency in Python, particularly for infrastructure automation via AWS CDK.
- Extensive experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
DevOps Tooling
- Experience with Bitbucket or similar source control platforms.
- Strong CI/CD pipeline automation experience.
Containerization
- Solid experience with Docker and Kubernetes orchestration.
Security Knowledge
- Familiarity with security frameworks such as OWASP, NIST, and CIS.
- Experience with security scanning tools like Checkmarx, SonarQube, or equivalent.
Preferred Certifications
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
- Certified DevSecOps Professional (CDP)
- CISSP or equivalent security certification
