Lead Network Security Engineer - Remote
We have an immediate contract opportunity for a Lead Network Security Engineer to design, administer, and improve enterprise firewall and perimeter security technologies. Responsibilities include managing Palo Alto firewall policies, reviewing rules and configuration changes, assessing vulnerabilities, and responding to network security threats. The role will also support IDS/IPS, web application firewalls, VPNs, network access controls, and security initiatives across AWS and Azure, working with infrastructure, networking, cloud, and application teams.
Candidates should bring at least 11 years of cybersecurity engineering experience with a focus on network and firewall security, including extensive hands-on Palo Alto experience in large enterprise environments. Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, WAN/LAN, VPNs, vulnerability management, and security frameworks is required. Experience with SIEM, EDR, DLP, CASB, and scripting with Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages is also required. The position includes technical leadership, mentoring, security documentation, incident investigations, and after-hours maintenance or response activities. A relevant bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree, professional security certifications, SOC experience, and zero-trust architecture experience are preferred.
This is a remote contract opportunity with up to 10% travel.
