Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SAP Vertex Consultant with 10+ years of experience in SAP indirect tax solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Vertex O Series / Vertex Cloud integrated with SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA, and will play a key role in design, implementation, support, and optimization of tax determination and compliance processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end Vertex implementation and integration with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA

• Design and configure Vertex O Series / Vertex Cloud for US and international indirect taxes (Sales & Use Tax, VAT, GST)

• Configure SAP tax procedures, condition types, tax codes, and pricing integrations

• Manage tax determination, reporting, and compliance requirements

• Collaborate with business, finance, and tax teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions

• Handle Vertex upgrades, patches, and performance tuning

• Troubleshoot and resolve tax calculation, posting, and reconciliation issues

• Support testing activities including unit testing, integration testing, and UAT

• Prepare technical documentation and provide knowledge transfer to internal teams

• Act as a subject-matter expert and mentor junior consultants

• Work closely with external vendors, tax authorities, and auditors as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in SAP Tax / Vertex solutions

• Strong hands-on experience with Vertex O Series and/or Vertex Cloud

• Solid experience integrating Vertex with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA

• Strong understanding of indirect tax regulations (Sales & Use Tax, VAT, GST)

• Experience with SAP modules such as FI, SD, MM

• Knowledge of tax determination, tax reporting, and compliance processes

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with S/4HANA migration projects involving Vertex

• Exposure to global tax implementations

• Vertex and/or SAP certifications

• Experience in Agile / Scrum project environments

Nice to Have

• Vertex Returns or other tax compliance tools

• Integration experience with third-party tax engines

• Leadership or onsite offshore coordination experience
