Summary

Computer Security System Specialist Level II

is seeking a Computer Security System Specialist who will serve as part of a VM Tiger Team, helping vulnerability management programs through hands-on patch management, fixlet development, and security compliance support.

Location: (Remote)

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust (Tier 2 Moderate Risk/MBI Level 5B).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with endpoint security operations using tools such as BigFix, Tenable, JAMF, and SCCM.
  • Assist ICOs with patch management best practices, configuration management, and tool migration or upgrade activities.
  • Contribute to the repository by uploading and maintaining high-priority fixlets and configuration compliance content.
  • Develop custom fixes using Relevance scripting and related technologies when a vendor patch is not available.
  • Monitor and review vulnerability and remediation data to help prioritize ICO support needs.
  • Leverage the site to communicate and publish articles on CVEs, KEVs, and Binding Operational Directives and Emergency Directives (BOD/EDs).
  • Participate in Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs) and office hour sessions to discuss vulnerability trends, tool capabilities, and patch management solutions.
  • Support incident response, threat monitoring, and vulnerability assessment activities in alignment with FISMA requirements and federal security standards.
  • Assist in implementing security controls and conducting vulnerability assessments to reduce ICO risk exposure.
  • Prepare and contribute to technical documentation, status reports, and knowledge base articles supporting ICO vulnerability management programs.

Basic Qualifications Required Education, Certifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity with a focus on security compliance, patch management, and risk mitigation for government systems.
  • Hands-on experience with endpoint security and vulnerability management tools including BigFix, Tenable (Security Center), and JAMF.
  • Experience with Relevance scripting and related technologies for building custom fixlets and patches where vendor solutions are unavailable.
  • Familiarity with FISMA requirements and federal security standards including NIST frameworks.
  • Experience working within cybersecurity teams to implement security controls and conduct vulnerability assessments.
  • Knowledge of incident response protocols and threat monitoring practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
