Position DescriptionPerforms highly advanced computer systems analysis work in support of TxDOT District/Division information technology systems. Oversees work involving analyzing user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing systems. Oversees technical support and advice involving the development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of projects/programs and/or systems. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Duties: Supports the planning, design, developments, implementation, and management of PEPS IT initiatives (enterprise initiatives)
Oversees the evaluation of methods, tools, hardware and software used to improve the analysis, development, integration, implementation and maintenance of information systems.
Creates new standard reports; collaborating with end users to gather report requirements and ensure proper testing and validation.
Designs, builds, tests, implements, and maintains both publish and ad hoc reports in response to customer change requests.
Analyzes new or existing procedures and information systems for efficiency and effectiveness.
Oversees and/or prepares and defines the goals of the system and devises flow charts and diagrams describing logical operational steps of programs.
Coordinates with users to identify system requirements, develop functional design specifications to meet requirements, and solve complex operational problems.
Coordinates requests or completes user security changes or additions and facilitates security authorizations for new users.
Reviews and analyzes reports and performance indicators to locate code problems, and corrects errors by modifying or correcting code.
Writes programs and/or queries for spreadsheet or database software to create reports and import/export data.
Leading projects and project teams

Minimum RequirementsEducation - Bachelor's Degree in Computer/Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline. Related experience and/or relevant technical training may be substituted for education on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications:
Work Experience - 5 years of experience in systems analysis, application systems support, or related work experience (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent) Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
License and Certification:- Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
