Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to support a federal health technology program. This role will focus on building and maintaining a self-service application delivery platform for AWS workloads. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, Jenkins, Groovy, CI/CD automation, and reusable platform engineering patterns.
This is a senior technical role for someone who can build the golden paths that application teams use to deploy, promote, and manage workloads across environments. The right candidate will be comfortable partnering with developers, security, and operations teams to standardize application delivery, improve reliability, and create scalable platform tooling.
Responsibilities
• Build and maintain a self-service application delivery platform for AWS workloads
• Design reusable Jenkins shared libraries and CI/CD pipeline standards
• Develop Jenkins Declarative and Scripted pipelines using Groovy
• Create Terraform module stacks for AWS services including ECS, S3, SQS, Lambda, IAM, VPC, and CloudWatch
• Build Terraform modules and root module compositions for multi-service applications
• Define YAML-based application contracts for application teams
• Implement promotion workflows, approval gates, drift prevention, and environment separation
• Establish Terraform state management and environment management practices
• Support ECS Fargate and other AWS platform services
• Standardize build, test, deploy, and release workflows
• Partner with developers, security, and operations teams to deliver secure and reusable platform patterns
• Create documentation, templates, and onboarding guides for application teams
• Improve platform reliability, observability, security, and cost efficiency
Required Qualifications
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust
• Bachelor’s degree or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree
• 7 or more years of platform development, DevOps, cloud engineering, or infrastructure engineering experience
• Strong AWS experience, especially with ECS, IAM, S3, SQS, Lambda, VPC, and CloudWatch
• Hands-on Terraform experience, including module design, root module composition, backend configuration, and state management
• Jenkins pipeline experience, including Declarative pipelines, Scripted pipelines, shared libraries, or multibranch pipelines
• Experience creating reusable platform tooling or abstractions for multiple application teams
• Scripting experience with Bash or Python
• Understanding of SDLC, deployment strategies, release governance, and environment promotion
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience designing or supporting internal developer platforms
• Experience with golden path or self-service deployment patterns
• Experience with Spring Boot or containerized Java services
• Experience with approval gates, policy enforcement, and environment promotion
• Experience with multi-account AWS environments
• Familiarity with event-driven architecture and asynchronous patterns
• Experience onboarding application teams to shared platform tooling
• Experience supporting ServiceNow-based low-code applications
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a hands-on Senior Platform Engineer who has built reusable CI/CD and infrastructure patterns for application teams. This person should be able to design Terraform modules, build Jenkins shared libraries, support AWS ECS Fargate workloads, and create standardized deployment workflows across development, test, staging, and production environments.
This role is best suited for someone who enjoys building platform capabilities that other engineers use, not just deploying individual applications.
