Overview
As the DB Administrator, you will be responsible for the administration of program ops and non-ops Oracle database. DB administration includes facilitating creation of databases, providing database tuning, and monitoring database security, performance, and utilization. This position must proactively monitor the database systems, recognize issues, and provide solutions that prevent or minimize customer impact. These issues are often difficult and complex and may require innovative solutions such as design and development of scripts, tools, and utilities to ensure operational credibility. You will perform the process of database security in compliance with the client's policies, translating these policies into database settings.
DB Administrator responsibilities include performing all necessary procedures for the program. Specific development, test, and ops responsibilities include:
- Lead all efforts related to the design, maintenance, and administration of multiple classified database technologies
- Recommend then implement new database solutions, products, and/or standards in support of program goals & operations
- Evaluate, install and test database management systems (DBMS) upgrades and patches for DBMS software, application software, and other software related to DBMS administration
- Work with the system administrators for hardware and software installations and configurations, participate in the evaluation and recommendation of appropriate hardware and software resources for databases
- Support program requests - data copies across environments, data cleanup, query tuning, etc.
- Support projects/initiatives related to data acquisition, processing, and utilization through Big Data Platform
- Work with end users to identify and resolve issues
- Analyze current business practices, processes and procedures as well as identifying future business opportunities for leveraging data storage and retrieval system capabilities
