Senior Systems Analyst Position Overview The Office of Data and Accountability guides, supports and develops school-based capacity to use information from data tools and systems to inform school planning and decision-making. The data system analyst position will aid in providing accurate, relevant, and concise feedback, to support strategic, data-driven decision-making, school and district-wide.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science, research methods, statistics, MIS, or related technical field preferred
Experience in research, evaluation, or statistics is strongly desired
Proficient in using Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Excel, and Access
Experience with SPSS desired
Extensive knowledge of report generation tools in a web environment
Experience with PHP, ASP, ASP.NET, and other web programming tools
Demonstrated ability to create, maintain, import, and export large and small databases using SQL
Organizational ability and skill to simultaneously manage multiple components of projects
Ability to work independently and in project teams with diverse groups of people
Excellent written and oral communication skills

Job Goal To enhance, develop, and automate department-reporting capabilities including web-reporting capabilities of forms, surveys, assessments, and NCLB report cards; and assist with populating and maintaining the district's data warehouse system.
Essential Functions Assists in collecting, entering, and verifying student, school, and district level data for internal and external partners.
Conducts analyses using Excel and/or other statistical software (SQL, R, SPSS, Stata).
Responds to internal and external data requests and prepares data extracts and/or interim and final reports
Communicates with internal and external partners to clarify data requests and assist in the understanding of data shared.
Manages a process for tracking all components of various data requests.
Maintains a proficient level of knowledge of the requirements under federal, state, and local mandates and guidelines for special education data management and reporting.
Maintains a strong knowledge of key partners' data sharing agreements and collaborates with Legal and other City Schools offices when necessary to receive clarification on requests.
Develops surveys for on and off the web, including
- Determining, ordering, and maintaining materials required for off-web surveys,
- managing the scanning and scoring of off-web surveys,
- managing the databases of on-web surveys, and
- managing the production and dissemination of on/off web survey results recommending and implementing hardware and software used with on/off web surveys.
Designs custom reports and queries to target specific data management issues and develops monitoring mechanisms to ensure that issues are resolved in a timely fashion.
