Job Description

What We're Doing
Within the Multi-Domain Combat Systems Integrated Engineering (MDCS IE) - Weapon Products organization, we design and sustain advanced capabilities for the Aegis Weapon System. Our teams support both legacy in-service baselines and the modernization of Aegis Common Source Library (CSL) capabilities-ensuring mission readiness today while advancing future combat system performance.
We are seeking a First-Line Manager (FLM) to lead the Weapon Systems Design group and drive excellence across engineering execution, program performance, and team development.

The Work
As the First-Line Manager for Weapon Systems Design, you will have full leadership accountability for the design and execution of Aegis Weapon System (AWS) capabilities and associated Weapon Control System (WCS) software components across CSL and legacy baselines. You will lead a team of approximately 20-25 systems engineers supporting complex systems engineering and integration activities. This role blends deep technical oversight with program execution discipline and people leadership.

Technical and Engineering Responsibilities:
- Oversee systems engineering activities supporting both in-service (legacy) and CSL baselines.
- Lead requirements development efforts, including:
* Aegis Weapon System (AWS) A-spec development
* Weapon Control System (WCS) B1 specification and WCS Computer Program B5 specification development
* Interface Design Specification (IDS) development
- Provide oversight of WCS simulation and tactical computer program design and implementation, including:
* Algorithm development
* Software design and coding
- Oversee system and WCS Integration & Test activities, including:
* Multi-Element Integration & Test (MEIT)
* Engineering Test & Evaluation (ET&E)
* Element Regression and Recovery & Reconfiguration (R&R)
* Computer Program Change Request (CPCR) verification, validation, and checkout
* Waterfront and At-Sea testing

Program Execution Responsibilities:
- Ensure cost estimates are accurate and proposals, ROMs, and statements of work are developed and maintained in a timely manner.
- Ensure work scope is accurately represented in GRID and reflected properly in the Integrated
Master Schedule (IMS).
- Oversee EVMS tracking, ensuring variances are meaningful, documented, and addressed.
- Ensure employees complete required training and maintain compliance with program and organizational standards.

Who You Are
You are a technical leader who understands both systems engineering depth and program execution discipline. You are comfortable operating across requirements development, detailed design, integration, and test-and equally comfortable leading teams and driving performance. You bring clarity to complex programs, balance cost and schedule constraints with engineering integrity, and build high-performing teams through coaching, feedback, and thoughtful staffing decisions. You understand that strong leadership means accountability-for the product, the program, and the people.
