Cloud Architect/Principal Engineer

We are seeking a Cloud Architect/Principal Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Kafka, Spring Boot, AWS, and Kubernetes to lead architecture, engineering, modernization, and operational excellence for highly scalable cloud-native platforms.
Qualifications:
- 14+ years of software/platform engineering experience with significant architecture experience.
- Proven experience with large-scale distributed systems and production environments.
- Strong communication, technical leadership, problem-solving, and mentoring skills.
- AWS/Kubernetes/Kafka certifications are a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Define and lead end-to-end architecture for scalable, resilient cloud-native applications and platforms.
- Provide technical leadership for Kafka, Spring Boot, AWS, and Kubernetes.
- Design and optimize Kafka clusters, including HA, replication, partitioning, security, performance, monitoring, and DR.
- Architect Spring Boot microservices and event-driven applications with focus on scalability, resiliency, and performance.
- Design and optimize AWS architectures, including EKS, VPC, S3, RDS, and CloudWatch.
- Lead Kubernetes/EKS architecture, deployment, scaling, security, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Drive DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and automation using tools such as Terraform and GitHub/Harness.
- Lead complex production incidents, root-cause analysis, and technical remediation.
- Mentor senior engineers and serve as the technical escalation point for complex issues.
Required Skills:
- Kafka: Administration, architecture, performance tuning, security, HA/DR, monitoring.
- Spring Boot/Java: Microservices, REST APIs, event-driven architecture, resiliency.
- AWS: Strong cloud architecture and hands-on engineering experience.
- Kubernetes: Architecture, EKS, deployments, networking, security, scaling, troubleshooting.
- DevOps: CI/CD, Terraform/IaC, Git, containerization.
- Observability: Datadog, Splunk, PrometheGrafana, OpenTelemetry or equivalent.
Pay Range for CA, CO, IL, NJ, NY, WA, and DC: $95/hour to $115/hour. Starting rate of pay offered may vary depending on factors including but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
