Disaster Recovery Engineer
The Disaster Recovery (DR) Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining end to end Disaster Recovery strategies and solutions across enterprise environments. This role ensures organizational resilience by enabling rapid recovery of critical systems, applications, and infrastructure in the event of outages, cyber incidents, or large scale disruptions. The architect collaborates with technology teams, business units, and leadership to align DR capabilities with business continuity requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. DR Strategy & Architecture
• Design enterprise level Disaster Recovery architectures for critical applications, platforms, and infrastructure.
• Define RTO/RPO standards and recovery architectures that align with business continuity objectives.
• Develop DR reference architecture, frameworks, patterns, and reusable templates.
2. DR Planning & Implementation
• Lead end to end DR solution design across on premise, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Create DR runbooks, playbooks, workflows, and recovery procedures.
• Define DR automation strategies and integrate with orchestration tools.
3. DR Assessment & Gap Identification
• Conduct DR maturity assessments and identify gaps in existing recovery capabilities.
• Review infrastructure resilience, failover mechanisms, and data replication setups.
• Recommend improvements to improve system availability and recoverability.
4. DR Testing & Validation
• Plan, coordinate, and execute DR drills (tabletop, partial, and full failover tests).
• Validate recovery success against defined SLAs and compliance requirements.
• Document test results and track remediation actions.
5. Technology Expertise
• Expertise in backup solutions (e.g., NetBackup, Commvault, Veeam).
• Experience with replication technologies (e.g., SRM, Zerto, Azure Site Recovery, AWS DRS).
• Strong understanding of storage, virtualization, networking, and cloud DR architectures.
6. Compliance & Governance
• Ensure adherence to regulatory standards (BFSI guidelines, ISO 22301, RBI mandates).
• Maintain DR policies, standards, and audit documentation.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure DR alignment with cyber resilience requirements.
7. Stakeholder & Project Management
• Work with business, PMO, Infra, Application teams, and Service Delivery stakeholders.
• Provide architecture guidance, technical leadership, and DR SME expertise.
• Support customer presentations, solutioning, and pre sales DR architecture proposals.

Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
• Strong knowledge of Disaster Recovery architecture & Business Continuity planning.
• DR solutions: VMware SRM, Zerto, Azure Site Recovery, AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery.
• Backup systems: Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, Veeam.
• Virtualization & Infrastructure: VMware, Hyper V, storage arrays, clustering.
• Cloud DR: Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform failover strategies.
• Networking: Load balancers, DNS failover, firewalls, routing during DR.
Professional Skills
• Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to lead DR drills, workshops, and executive level reviews.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Experience
• 8–15 years of IT Infrastructure experience, with at least 3–5 years dedicated to DR/BCP architecture.
• Experience in BFSI or regulated environments preferred.
