Senior Oracle Cloud Architect / Engineer to work
remotely .
The Senior Oracle Cloud Architect / Engineer will support the design, modernization, implementation, and long-term operation of Oracle-based enterprise data platforms within a complex Government environment. This role will work closely with technical and business stakeholders to define architecture, guide platform strategy, and support the delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performing Oracle solutions across the enterprise.
The ideal candidate will bring deep Oracle expertise and strong experience designing enterprise-grade database and large data platform architectures, while also remaining comfortable in a hands-on engineering capacity. This individual should be able to operate strategically at the architecture level, while also troubleshooting issues, optimizing performance, supporting implementations, and helping engineering teams execute effectively.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and long-term evolution of Oracle-based data platforms in an enterprise environment
- Serve as the senior technical authority for Oracle database solutions, including platform strategy, integration patterns, modernization approaches, and engineering best practices
- Design scalable, secure, and resilient Oracle architectures that support mission and business-critical applications
- Provide hands-on technical leadership across database engineering, performance tuning, automation, migrations, and operational support
- Support the integration of Oracle platforms with adjacent enterprise systems, analytics environments, cloud services, and application ecosystems
- Advise stakeholders on modernization roadmaps, data architecture decisions, and technology tradeoffs
- Assist in developing and documenting reference architectures, standards, playbooks, and implementation guidance
- Support and mentor technical teams through design reviews, troubleshooting, and engineering execution
- Assist with customer use cases involving Oracle database engineering, migration, optimization, and platform transformation
Salary Range: $175,000 - $225,000

Required Skills - Ability to successfully maintain a DHS Entry on Duty (EOD)/Public Trust
- Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience architecting, designing, implementing, and supporting Oracle database solutions in a government or large enterprise environment
- Deep expertise with Oracle Database, including architecture, installation, configuration, administration, and operational support
- Strong experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle RAC, Identity & Access Management, Cloud Guard, RMAN, ASM, backup/recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery architectures
- Demonstrated ability to function as both a high-level architect and a hands-on engineer
- Experience with database performance tuning, SQL optimization, storage planning, and troubleshooting complex production issues
- Experience supporting Oracle migrations, upgrades, and modernization efforts, including on-prem to cloud or hybrid environments
- Strong knowledge of data modeling, schema design, data integration, and enterprise data management practices
- Experience automating database administration and deployment activities using scripting and infrastructure tooling
- Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills
- Experience integrating Oracle with enterprise applications, reporting platforms, middleware, and cloud services
- Experience working in Agile environments and supporting cross-functional technical delivery
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to advise senior stakeholders and produce technical documentation
Desired Skills - Prior experience in the federal space
- Experience with the System Engineering Lifecycle (SELC)
- Experience with Oracle Exadata
- Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and hybrid cloud architectures
- Experience with Oracle GoldenGate or other replication/data movement technologies
- Familiarity with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation for database platforms
- Experience supporting application modernization efforts that depend on Oracle back-end systems
- Experience building reference architectures, engineering standards, and platform documentation
- Experience with security hardening, auditing, compliance, and STIG implementation for Oracle environments
- Oracle certifications such as Oracle Database Administrator, Oracle Cloud Architect, or related credentials
- Experience leading technical teams or serving as the senior escalation point for complex Oracle issues
