Job Summary

STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking an Autonomy Engineer (Planning & Guidance Systems) on behalf of our client in the aerospace and defense sector. This role supports a cutting-edge autonomy program focused on developing advanced planning, behavior, and guidance capabilities for next-generation aircraft platforms.

You will work across core autonomy modules, including behavior planning, path/route planning, and guidance systems, with a strong emphasis on decision-making logic and system-level autonomy architecture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop behavior trees and mission-level decision-making logic
  • Design and implement path and trajectory planning algorithms
  • Build and optimize guidance algorithms (e.g., Pure Pursuit, Model Predictive Control)
  • Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code using C++ and/or Python
  • Conduct simulations, validate outputs, and support system-level testing
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate autonomy modules into larger systems
Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong programming expertise in C++ and/or Python
  • Hands-on experience in autonomy, robotics, UAVs, or related domains
  • Solid understanding of planning, control systems, or guidance algorithms
  • Experience working with real-world systems beyond research or simulation environments
  • Familiarity with system-level architecture and decision-making frameworks
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with aerospace or defense-related autonomy systems
  • Knowledge of simulation tools and validation frameworks
  • Exposure to embedded systems or real-time applications
