Software Development Engineer Test

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Software Development Engineer Test in Lansing, MI.

Overview:
A technology-driven organization is modernizing its quality engineering practices to support faster, more reliable software delivery. The team is focused on implementing scalable test automation solutions and integrating testing into continuous delivery pipelines while maintaining strong collaboration with Agile development teams.

Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with Agile feature teams to review user stories, define acceptance criteria, and promote a test-first approach during design and planning sessions
* Design, build, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for both UI and API testing using modern tools and languages
* Support the evolution of existing automation solutions by transitioning from legacy frameworks to modern, unified automation aligned with CI/CD pipelines
* Work closely with developers and quality engineers to ensure automated tests run within CI pipelines and deliver timely feedback on build quality
* Guide test case design, exploratory testing, and validation of complex workflows that are not yet automated
* Develop and maintain automated tests for REST and SOAP APIs as well as end-to-end application workflows
* Participate in code reviews and contribute to test architecture decisions to ensure reliability, reusability, and maintainability of automation assets
* Create and execute SQL queries to validate data integrity and support test data management
* Advocate for quality engineering best practices by mentoring team members and helping refine testing strategies and processes
* Maintain traceability between requirements, tests, and defects while supporting compliance with internal governance and security policies
* Assist Agile teams with manual testing activities when required to ensure thorough validation of new features and releases

REQUIREMENTS:
* Experience developing and maintaining automated testing frameworks for web and API applications
* Hands-on experience with modern test automation tools such as Playwright (preferred) or similar frameworks
* Proficiency with TypeScript or comparable programming languages used in automation development
* Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines within a DevOps environment
* Knowledge of API testing practices, including REST and SOAP services
* Ability to write SQL queries for data validation and test data preparation
* Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
* Experience collaborating within Agile development teams and contributing to iterative delivery cycles
* Familiarity with test case management tools and practices for maintaining traceability between requirements, tests, and defects
* Experience migrating or modernizing legacy automation frameworks is considered an asset

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
