Department Description:
At Disney Experiences Technology, our team creates world-class immersive digital experiences for the Company's premier vacation brands including Disney's Parks & Resorts worldwide, Disney Cruise Line, Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, and Disney Vacation Club. The Disney Experiences Technology team is responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation, and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including the MyDisneyExperience app and Hey, Disney!

This role sits in the Retail & Restaurant organization within Technology & Digital for Disney Experiences. It works closely with Product team, Vendor partners and Operations partners from across the company.

The Senior Software Engineer will report to the Mgr, Software Engineering.

About The Role & Team:

We are looking for someone to lead the design and development of scalable, cloud-native applications that support critical business operations. This role involves working across systems to define integration points, data mappings, and technical solutions aligned with business goals. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in Java and Google Cloud Platform based technologies, excels in cross-functional collaboration, and is comfortable owning complex features from concept to deployment. You'll mentor team members, contribute to architectural decisions, and help drive continuous improvement using modern development practices.

What You'll Do:
  • May lead small projects encompassing analysis, design, programming, debugging, and modification of software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, cloud-based, or Internet-related computer programs
  • Responsible for performing testing and debugging of applications
  • Code may be used in commercial and end-user applications or focus on software and tools supporting infrastructure and technology platforms
  • Code at the component level
  • Work typically involves large or highly sophisticated software programs and systems
  • Possess a proven understanding of current programming language and technologies, with strong skills in writing code and completing programming tasks
  • Interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications
  • Conceive, design, develop, test, and implement software components, fixes, improvements, and/or new systems and applications
  • Design and develop highly scalable software systems and applications
  • You will be expected to stay up to date with emerging technologies


Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience
  • Comfortable working in an agile environment
  • Proficiency in Java, Google Cloud Platform / Google Kubernetes Engine, Pub/Sub architecture, MongoDB, Dagger framework, GitLab, Terraform, web services (SOAP & REST), and CI/CD pipelines with a proactive demeanor towards continuous learning and skill development, and an interest in mastering emerging data engineering tools and methodologies


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to define and document data mappings across systems, translating between source structures, application models, and target formats.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with distributed teams across multiple time zones.
  • Skilled in mentoring and providing technical guidance to team members.
  • Proactive in identifying risks and recommending improvements to processes, technologies, and team effectiveness.
  • Experience in Supply Chain Management domains such as logistics, warehouse management, inventory, or purchasing with ERP system integrations.


Required Education:
  • Bachelor's or foreign equivalent Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
