<>Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Migration Automation Engineer with strong expertise in Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases to design, develop, and support an automated database migration pipeline. The engineer will work closely with the Transition Manager to integrate automation workflows and execute multiple database migration events across a 21-week program.

<>Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop an end-to-end database migration automation pipeline supporting both Oracle and SQL Server environments.
• Integrate database migration automation with the Transition Manager and established transition processes.
• Automate database discovery, assessment, validation, migration execution, and post-migration activities.
• Develop reusable PowerShell, Python, Shell/Bash, SQL, and PL/SQL scripts for migration automation.
• Build automated pre-migration and post-migration validation, health checks, reconciliation, and reporting.
• Support and execute 10+ database migration events over a 21-week period.
• Work with database and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot migration failures and resolve automation issues.
• Develop logging, error handling, rollback procedures, and operational runbooks for migration workflows.
• Ensure migration activities are repeatable, auditable, and scalable across large database environments.
• Support continuous improvement of automation based on lessons learned from each migration event.

<>Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Proven experience designing database migration automation frameworks/pipelines.
• Strong scripting and automation expertise using Python, PowerShell, Bash/Shell, SQL and/or PL/SQL.
• Experience integrating automation with transition, orchestration, or migration management processes.
• Strong understanding of database migration methodologies, dependencies, cutover, rollback, and validation.
• Experience with large-scale database migration projects and multiple migration waves/events.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience creating technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.

<>Preferred Skills

• Experience with SQL Server Always On, Oracle RAC/Data Guard, replication, backup/restore, and high-availability technologies.
• Experience with Ansible, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Git, Terraform, or similar automation/orchestration tools.
• Cloud database migration experience with Azure, AWS, or OCI.
• Experience working in enterprise-scale infrastructure environments.
• Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with DBAs, infrastructure teams, project managers, and transition teams.
