Duties

Help

  • Serves as a primary network administrator for one or more Local Area Networks, and as an IT specialist at a DCMA Special Programs Headquarters.
  • Serves as the technical advisor for all aspects of information technology efforts to include project management; analysis of applications and equipment implementation and utilization; training of personnel in.....
  • .....software/hardware equipment, applications, and telecommunications/network services.
  • Provides technical guidance and support to other IT specialists within the organization.
  • Represents the organization on automation projects dealing with hardware/software troubleshooting; contractor/activity connectivity; and systems development.
  • Troubleshoots problems and implements changes in assigned areas.
  • Diagnoses system failures to isolate the source of problems between equipment, systems software, and application programs.
  • Reviews proposed and new regulations, consulting with user representatives and providing technical and systems guidance and advice.

Qualifications

To qualify for an IT Specialist (Network), your resume and supporting documentation must support:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in, or related to, this position. To qualify for the NH-03 level, specialized experience must be at the NH-02 or GS-11 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-after-competitive appointment,minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:


  • Experience performing routine system administration, configuration, and maintenance for enterprise operating systems (such as Windows Server, Windows 11, or Linux) and standard commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software.
  • Assisting with the installation, configuration, and routine troubleshooting of Local Area Network (LAN) hardware, software, and routing protocols.
  • Providing tier-1 and tier-2 IT support, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and telecommunications issues for enterprise users.
  • Applying established information assurance (IA) and cybersecurity controls to protect operating systems, monitor vulnerability compliance, and support system authorization.
  • Contributing as a technical team member on IT infrastructure or network projects, executing tasks under the guidance of a senior project manager or lead.

For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

to providing quality products and services.

3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively,

taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial);

makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds

appropriately.

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; usessound judgment

to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations


Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

  • Must meet DoD 8140 training/certification requirements for the (451) system administrator and (441) Network Operations Specialist Cyber Workforce position within 6 months of joining the agency.
