Summary

Supervising Lead Engineer – Electrical Construction

Location: New York City Metropolitan Area

The Opportunity

An established electrical construction organization is seeking a Supervising Lead Engineer to take ownership of engineering coordination and execution across assigned projects.

This position will serve as the central engineering point of contact between design teams, general contractors, field operations, and prefabrication groups. The role combines project engineering leadership, BIM/model management, coordination, shop drawing production, and project execution.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced electrical construction engineer or BIM professional who can lead multiple workstreams, manage project deliverables, resolve technical issues, and ensure engineering activities remain aligned with project schedules, quality standards, and client requirements.

What You'll Be Doing

Project Engineering Leadership

  • Serve as the primary engineering liaison between project stakeholders, including design teams, general contractors, field personnel, and prefabrication teams.

  • Lead engineering planning and execution in coordination with project schedules and overall project requirements.

  • Monitor engineering production schedules, budgets, priorities, and deliverables.

  • Ensure engineering activities follow established company procedures, project standards, and client expectations.

  • Coordinate resources across multiple concurrent workstreams.

BIM & Model Management

  • Establish and maintain project BIM environments and associated workflows.

  • Create, manage, and integrate Revit models while ensuring compliance with established standards.

  • Administer project platforms used for model management and collaboration.

  • Serve as the project's BIM subject matter expert and provide technical direction on model coordination and implementation.

  • Support the integration of BIM technology into project planning and execution.

Coordination & Quality Control

  • Lead multidisciplinary coordination efforts, including clash detection, model reviews, QA/QC, and coordination scheduling.

  • Manage coordination reporting and track outstanding technical issues through resolution.

  • Coordinate internal and external resources to maintain project milestones.

  • Identify potential engineering conflicts or constructability issues before they affect field execution.

  • Work closely with field and prefabrication teams to ensure coordinated designs translate effectively into installation and fabrication.

Shop Drawings & Fabrication

  • Oversee production of electrical shop drawings and ensure deliverables meet contract requirements, applicable codes, and engineering standards.

  • Manage drawing schedules, review processes, and approval workflows.

  • Coordinate the transition from BIM/model coordination into shop drawing and fabrication activities.

  • Ensure information is accurately transferred between engineering, coordination, fabrication, and field teams.

Project Communication & Documentation

  • Manage RFIs, submittals, bulletins, site visits, issue tracking, and other engineering-related project communications.

  • Maintain project reporting systems and documentation to provide visibility into project status, priorities, and deliverables.

  • Communicate engineering challenges, project risks, and recommended solutions to appropriate stakeholders.

  • Help ensure technical issues are resolved efficiently without impacting project schedules.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 5–7 years of experience in electrical construction engineering, BIM coordination, or a closely related field.

  • Strong experience with Autodesk Revit.

  • Proficiency with BIM and coordination platforms such as ACC/Forma and Navisworks or Revizto.

  • Experience with project documentation and tracking tools such as Smartsheet.

  • Working knowledge of CPM scheduling.

  • Working knowledge of NEC requirements and electrical construction practices.

  • Strong understanding of shop drawing development and coordination processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and workstreams simultaneously.

  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

  • Previous supervisory or project engineering leadership experience.

  • Experience coordinating electrical construction projects involving prefabrication and field installation.

  • Experience serving as the primary engineering/BIM lead on complex construction projects.

  • Experience working directly with general contractors, design teams, fabrication groups, and field operations.

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated base salary range is $130,000–$170,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

The organization offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Medical and dental coverage

  • 401(k)

  • Paid holidays and vacation

  • Merit-based bonus opportunities

  • Tuition reimbursement

  • Training and professional development opportunities

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to step into a high-visibility engineering leadership position where BIM, electrical construction, project coordination, and field execution come together.

Rather than focusing solely on model production, this role gives the successful candidate ownership of engineering coordination and project deliverables while working directly with design professionals, contractors, fabrication teams, and field operations.

For an experienced electrical construction engineer or BIM lead ready to take on broader project responsibility, this position offers significant technical ownership and leadership exposure within an established organization.
