Platform Engineering Engineer 3 (CDN Platform Engineer)
Overview

Our client is seeking a Platform Engineering Engineer 3 to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise Content Delivery Network (CDN) platforms supporting large-scale, customer-facing digital applications. This role will drive the evolution of a modern Multi-CDN ecosystem through automation, self-service capabilities, cloud technologies, and platform engineering best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the technical owner and subject matter expert for enterprise CDN technologies.
  • Lead the transformation from a vendor-managed environment to a modern Multi-CDN platform.
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain CDN solutions across Akamai, Cloudflare, Fastly, and Google Cloud CDN.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform and Ansible.
  • Build self-service developer capabilities through internal developer portals and API integrations.
  • Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Tekton.
  • Perform root cause analysis for high-priority production incidents and implement automated remediation.
  • Build observability and monitoring solutions using Splunk, Dynatrace, and Grafana.
  • Establish and monitor CDN performance metrics, SLOs, and SLAs.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to technical documentation and training initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of experience managing enterprise CDN platforms
  • Hands-on experience with Akamai, Cloudflare, Fastly, or Google Cloud CDN
  • Strong understanding of:
    • DNS, GTM, and CNAME chaining
    • HTTP/2, HTTP/3
    • TLS/SSL
    • Caching strategies and edge computing
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong troubleshooting, automation, and production support experience
  • Experience building APIs and self-service automation solutions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform)
  • Google Cloud Run, GKE/OpenShift, or Transcoder API
  • Adobe Experience Manager (AEM/AEMaaCS)
  • Backstage Developer Portal
  • React, Python (FastAPI/Flask), or Java
  • Apigee API Management
  • Splunk, Dynatrace, and Grafana
