Job Description: QA Analyst III
We are Big Box VR the makers of Population: One and Shovel Up! You are an experienced Quality Assurance Analyst with a passion for games and game engine technology. You have a strong sense of quality and know what makes games and game creation tools enjoyable for players and creators. You have experience working within an embedded test team to efficiently test large scale, dynamic game creation products to find and document defects and identify areas that need improvement. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can communicate high level or detailed information to a wide variety of stakeholders. You are a key member on the game development team and a trusted partner able to hold complete knowledge of each area of the product, its status, and quality level. You have worked at a game tools developer shipping and operating live ops games creation products with regular release cadences.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with external test vendors to ensure tests are completed and results are reported efficiently and clearly to the team
- Define, develop and execute comprehensive test plans to ensure the quality of the product
- Create, maintain and execute repeatable manual and automated test cases and user workflow scripts
- Create regular reports that communicate the status and priority of work in progress
- Work closely with the development team to review and validate work throughout each phase of the development cycle
- Write clear and concise bug reports and feedback for features and defects.
- Research root cause and add clarifying information for issues that are difficult to reproduce
- Assist in the triage of issues as they are reported, provide additional detail and research as required
- Track test results against success criteria and key metrics for functionality, usability, performance, and stability
- Provide product and gameplay feedback on our product as compared to the competition
- Assist with release deployment process through live testing
- Support the studio feature and release teams as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a QA Analyst on games, game engines and/or content creation tools development team
- Experience with test methodologies, creating test plans, test cases, and using profiling and debugging tools
- Experience contributing to the success of a Live Product by ensuring quality releases on a recurring cadence
- Experience with attention to detail, verbal and written communication of test schedule, results, and next steps embedded with the development team
- In-depth understanding of Game Development Cycle, QA Strategy, root cause analysis and risk-management strategies
- Experience multitasking across multiple assigned tasks
- Experience with using defect Tracking tools (e.g. Jira, Click Up) and Google Suite
- Experience working as an embedded QA tester within a development team
Preferred Qualifications
- QA Engineer on a game engine or creation tools development team
- Experience with build tools and source control tools (GitHub, VS Code, TeamCity)
- Experience working with game engines; Unity, Unreal etc.
- Mobile game testing experience
- Passionate about AI
