- Serve as the Operational Manager overseeing an Epic Security team
- Lead and manage IAM integration efforts within the Epic environment
- Provide team leadership, stakeholder coordination, and operational oversight to ensure secure and efficient access management
Overview
The Epic Security Manager of Operations is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, governance, and operational execution of Epic security across the enterprise. This role ensures consistent, compliant, and efficient access to Epic applications by overseeing security operations, leading the Epic Security team, and partnering closely with Identity & Access Management (IAM), Compliance, Privacy, Audit, and clinical leadership. The Manager balances operational delivery with risk management, standardization, and continuous improvement to support safe patient care and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
• Provide operational leadership and oversight for Epic security administration, including user provisioning, role changes, and de-provisioning.
• Manage daily intake, prioritization, and fulfillment of Epic security requests in alignment with SLAs and operational expectations.
• Ensure consistent application of role-based access control (RBAC) and least-privilege principles across all Epic users.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex or high-risk access issues.
• Lead, coach, and develop Epic Security Analysts and Senior Analysts.
• Establish clear roles, responsibilities, performance expectations, and metrics for the Epic Security team.
• Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and skills development planning.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field is preferred.
Certification/Licensure
- Certification in Epic Security is required
Experience
- 10 years of IT experience desired.
- Understanding of HIPAA, HITECH, and other healthcare security regulations.
- Experience with Active Directory (AD), single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and identity management solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills related to Epic security and access issues.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with IT teams, compliance officers, and end users.

• Experience with EMP, SER, and identity management is preferred.
• Experience with user provisioning, role-based access control (RBAC), and security model design is preferred.
