About role
We are hiring a Senior Product Architect to help design the core analysis and transformation capabilities of the smartShift platform. This is a product-centric role focused on how classic ABAP applications are extracted, analyzed, modeled, and transformed into modern SAP extensibility patterns.
This role is ideal for a senior ABAP expert who wants to move beyond project delivery and influence product architecture, automation, and the future of SAP modernization.
● Architect solutions for large-scale ABAP repository analysis and transformation
● Architect automated application modernization approaches for the transformation of classic ABAP extensions to modern Extensibility patterns like ABAP Cloud, Side-by-Side, and Key User
● Shape data models and analytics that represent ABAP objects, dependencies, and transformation paths
● Identify repeatable patterns suitable for automation and AI-assisted analysis
● Collaborate with key stakeholders like Customer Success, Product, and Engineering teams
● Influence product roadmap decisions as SAP and AI technologies evolve
Key Responsibilities
● 10+ years of SAP ABAP experience, including custom development, enhancements, and modifications
● Strong knowledge of:
○ SAP S/4HANA architecture
○ Clean Core principles and SAP extensibility strategy
○ ABAP Cloud and released API concepts
● Ability to analyze and reason about large, complex ABAP codebases
● Comfort working with tools and languages outside of ABAP, like Databricks, VSCode, etc., for data analysis, modeling, and visualization to support product requirements
● Ability to leverage AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, etc., to gain efficiencies in daily work
● Strong communication skills to be able to clearly communicate with different stakeholders, like Customer Success, Engineering, and product team members
Nice to Have
● Exposure to Generative AI, LLMs, or AI-assisted development tools
● Experience contributing to software analysis, modernization, or transformation tooling
● Understanding of how AI can assist code analysis, pattern recognition, or transformation decision-making
● Product or platform company experience
