Job Title : Oracle Hyperion HFM Logic Analysis & Debugging Consultant

Location : Englewood Cliffs, NJ

 

 

Debug and reverse engineer Stryker Hyperion/HFM rules, formulas, metadata, mappings, scripts, forms, journals, reports, batch processes, and related configuration.
• Trace financial data from source and staging inputs through FDMEE and HFM to consolidated and reported outputs.
• Document calculations, transformations, currency treatment, sign conventions, period movement, year-to-date balances, close timing, and key dimensional mappings.
• Separate base trial-balance data from HFM journals, adjustments, consolidations, reclasses, web-form entries, and supplemental actuals.
• Identify undocumented logic, dependencies, hard-coded values, sequencing, manual steps, data gaps, and defects that affect Anaplan design or reconciliation.
• Reproduce issues through log review, data comparison, test cases, SQL, and calculation tracing; document root causes and remediation options.
• Convert findings into calculation narratives, mapping tables, data flows, dependency lists, sample inputs and outputs, and reconciliation rules for the Anaplan and integration teams.
• Support design and testing sessions, define expected results, and clarify which data and logic should remain in HFM or come from ERP, SAP BW, or another source.
• Provide knowledge transfer and a final findings package. Routine administration, upgrades, security provisioning, monitoring, and general Hyperion enhancements are outside the assignment.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Oracle Hyperion, HFM, Essbase, or EPM certification is preferred.
Experience & Key Success Attributes
• 8+ years of hands-on Oracle Hyperion or EPM experience, including HFM rules, metadata, data loading, consolidation, translation, reporting, and reconciliation.
• Experience reverse engineering enterprise-owned Hyperion logic and documenting undocumented behavior and dependencies.
• Working knowledge of FDMEE, Shared Services, Calculation Manager, Financial Reporting, Smart View, Essbase, SQL, and batch or automation scripts.
• Strong understanding of trial balances, financial consolidation, close, P&L and Balance Sheet reporting, currencies, journals, allocations, reclasses, and supplemental data.
• Experience supporting EPM modernization or FP&A transformation. Experience translating Hyperion logic into Anaplan model, mapping, data-hub, or integration requirements is preferred.
• Ability to work independently, inspect code, configuration, logs, and data, and deliver findings on a short schedule.
• Clear technical writing and communication skills for working with Finance, Hyperion, Anaplan, data, integration, controls, and implementation teams.
• Knowledge of SOX controls, audit evidence, data lineage, change management, and financial-data security.
