Rate: $50/Hr- $65/Hr (Negotiable based on experience) Job Overview: We are seeking a Principal Systems Analyst to support enterprise mainframe modernization initiatives. The role involves analyzing operational and consumption data and developing reporting mechanisms to measure the reduction of legacy platform usage as part of a broader cloud modernization strategy. The successful candidate will collaborate with modernization teams, infrastructure, engineering, architecture, and program leadership to translate technical modernization activities into measurable KPIs, dashboards, and executive reporting.
Responsibilities: - Analyze IBM mainframe operational and performance data, including SMF, RMF, CICS, DB2, and batch workloads.
- Build dashboards and reporting tools to track modernization progress, workload reduction, and platform consumption trends.
- Develop executive-level reporting and KPI visualizations using tools like Power BI and BusinessObjects.
- Utilize SQL and Snowflake to aggregate, transform, and analyze large operational datasets.
- Investigate workload spikes, anomalies, and operational trends.
- Gather requirements and collaborate across infrastructure, operations, engineering, and modernization teams.
- Document data flows, reporting methodologies, and operational dependencies.
Qualifications: - Strong IBM mainframe operational knowledge, including LPARs, SYSPLEX, CECs, batch processing, and workload management.
- Experience analyzing SMF/RMF, CICS, DB2, and workload/performance data.
- Advanced SQL and Snowflake experience.
- Proficiency in reporting/dashboard development using Power BI and SAP BusinessObjects.
- Strong analytical and systems analysis skills.
- Ability to translate technical findings into business-focused insights and executive reporting.
Preferred Experience: - Experience with mainframe modernization initiatives.
- Background in capacity management or performance engineering.
- Familiarity with financial services or enterprise-scale transaction environments.
- Experience with cloud modernization programs.
- Knowledge of Control-M or batch scheduling.
- Understanding of distributed-to-mainframe integrations and API workload tracing.
