Location: Reston, VA (Onsite – 1 day/week, Local to DMV area only)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lead AWS Cloud Platform Engineer to provide hands-on technical expertise in supporting and enhancing our AWS cloud ecosystem. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, and managing scalable, secure, and reliable cloud solutions aligned with enterprise standards.

This role requires a highly skilled professional with strong leadership capabilities and deep expertise in AWS services, containerization, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive cloud transformation initiatives and improve system performance, scalability, and automation.

The selected candidate will also be responsible for establishing cloud governance, improving developer experience through automation, and ensuring high availability and reliability of cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities

·         Design, implement, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure and platform services

·         Lead cloud transformation initiatives and drive SRE best practices

·         Build and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes (EKS)

·         Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or CloudFormation

·         Implement CI/CD pipelines and automation for provisioning and deployment

·         Monitor system performance using CloudWatch and ensure reliability and scalability

·         Collaborate with engineering teams to design cloud-native architectures

·         Support system design, capacity planning, and release management activities

·         Troubleshoot complex production issues and ensure system stability

·         Guide migration of legacy applications to microservices-based cloud architectures

·         Enhance developer experience through automation and cloud-native solutions

·         Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and governance standards

Required Qualifications

·         12+ years of overall IT experience with strong development and systems engineering background

·         5+ years of hands-on experience in AWS Cloud Engineering and Administration

·         AWS Certification (Solutions Architect / DevOps Engineer or equivalent) – Mandatory

·         Strong hands-on experience with AWS services: EC2, S3, EKS, SageMaker, CloudWatch, API Gateway

·         Expertise in Kubernetes (EKS) and containerization technologies

·         Experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and practices (3–5 years)

·         Proficiency in Python scripting and automation

·         Strong understanding of cloud architecture, scalability, and security best practices

·         Experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, Artifactory, Bitbucket

·         Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments

·         Strong experience in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)

·         Solid knowledge of Linux, shell scripting, networking, and cloud security

Preferred Qualifications

·         Experience with Terraform automation and advanced IaC practices

·         Exposure to AI/ML services such as AWS Bedrock, Kendra, and RAG-based solutions

·         Experience with enterprise cloud migration and transformation programs

·         Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills

·         Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

·         Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (preferred)

·         Local to DMV area and willing to work onsite in Reston, VA (once a week)
