Role : Business Analyst/Project Manager - Alation System Implementation
Location: NYC, NY
Need H1 & Citizens with a Minimum of 10 Years of Experience. This is 100% Onsite/Hybrid model and needs candidates from NY, NJ & CT only.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Business Analyst / Project Manager to lead and manage the successful implementation of Alation, our enterprise data catalog solution. This hybrid role is responsible for driving project execution, gathering and communicating business requirements, and ensuring the project remains on track, on time, and aligned with organizational goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, project management expertise, and a collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and milestones for the Alation system implementation.
Coordinate cross-functional teams, including IT, data governance, business units, and external vendors, to ensure project deliverables are met.
Monitor project progress, proactively identify risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
Facilitate regular project status meetings, providing clear updates to stakeholders and leadership.
Manage project documentation, including meeting notes, action items, and change requests.
Ensure adherence to project scope, budget, and quality standards.
Business Analysis:
Engage with business stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document requirements for the Alation implementation.
Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications for the project team and vendor.
Conduct gap analyses to identify areas where Alation can add value or improve existing processes.
Collaborate with data stewards, data owners, and subject matter experts to define metadata, data lineage, and governance requirements.
Support user acceptance testing (UAT), including test case development, execution, and issue resolution.
Develop and deliver training materials and user guides to facilitate system adoption.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary point of contact between business users, technical teams, and the Alation vendor.
Communicate project goals, progress, and changes effectively to all stakeholders.
Foster a collaborative environment, encouraging feedback and continuous improvement.
Prepare and present project updates, dashboards, and reports to executive leadership.
Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
3+ years of experience in business analysis and/or project management, preferably in data management or system implementation.
Proven track record of successfully managing enterprise software implementations.
Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data catalog concepts (Alation experience required).
Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Smartsheet) and business analysis techniques.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
PMP, CBAP, or similar certification.
