Department: WCAS Physics & Astronomy
Salary/Grade: NEX/9

Job Summary:

The Physics and Astronomy department seeks a data assistant associate of general relativistic magnetohydrodynamic simulation output. The candidate will need to analyze and graph the simulated data, assist with the physical interpretation of the analysis results and participate in writing research manuscripts using these datasets.

This is a term position ending on 02/27/28. Target hiring range for this position will be between $17.05-$21.31 per hour. Offered rate will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Specific Responsibilities:

Technical:
  • Analyze large-scale datasets of black hole accretion simulation output
  • Create plots using python and libraries
  • Create 3D visualizations using ParaView
  • Construct analytical models to describe the simulation results
Administration:
  • Ensure the simulation data is properly backed up and back it up as necessary
Miscellaneous

Performed other duties

Minimum Qualifications:
  • HS diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Competencies:
  • Some experience with Linux operating system
  • Some experience with Python programming language
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Some college level sciences classes
