Job Description
A Network Engineer II is a senior-level technical professional responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network infrastructure. This role requires advanced expertise in networking technologies and the ability to lead projects and mentor junior staff. The engineer will be responsible for the design, architecture, operations, and security of enterprise-level networks, including LAN, WAN, wireless, and data center components.
Network Design & Implementation
- Design and architect enterprise-level network solutions including LAN, WAN, wireless, and data center networks
- Implement and configure advanced routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS)
- Deploy and manage network security solutions including firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS systems
- Plan and execute network upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime
- Proficient in bridging and routing integration technologies
- Responsible for business-to-business and remote access configurations
Operations & Maintenance
- Troubleshoot complex network issues and perform root cause analysis
- Maintain network documentation including diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures
- Monitor network performance and optimize for reliability, speed, and security
- Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with service providers
- Experience troubleshooting LANs, WANs, and wireless networks
Security & Compliance
- Implement network security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards
- Conduct network security assessments and vulnerability testing
- Respond to security incidents and implement remediation measures
- Stay current with emerging security threats and mitigation strategies
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead network infrastructure projects from conception to completion
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior network engineers
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems, security, and application teams
