Network Engineer – Enterprise Network Refresh Project
Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid – onsite as needed)
Duration: 12-month contract with strong potential for extension
Hours: 40–50 hours per week
Overview
We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join a large-scale enterprise network modernization effort supporting sites across North America. This role will focus on switch and wireless infrastructure upgrades, including staging, configuration, and deployment of new network equipment.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with Cisco switching and Aruba wireless technologies, along with the ability to interpret and implement network designs aligned with enterprise standards.
This position works closely with project managers, infrastructure teams, and onsite technicians to ensure successful deployments across multiple locations.
What You’ll Be Doing
Network Deployment and Implementation
Support a major switch and wireless access point refresh initiative across North America
Stage, configure, and prepare switches and wireless equipment for deployment
Coordinate with project managers and rack/stack technicians to execute refresh activities
Assist with technical execution during scheduled deployment windows
Network Design and Engineering
Draft and review network designs based on established enterprise architecture standards
Validate configurations and ensure adherence to network design guidelines
Support troubleshooting and issue resolution during deployment activities
Infrastructure Staging and Configuration
Stage and configure switches at the Houston staging facility as required by project timelines
Prepare equipment for deployment including firmware updates, configuration templates, and testing
Maintain documentation and configuration records
Project Collaboration
Partner with project managers and infrastructure teams to execute rollout plans
Participate in planning sessions and provide technical guidance on network implementations
Help ensure project milestones and timelines are met
Work Environment
What You Bring
Required
5+ years of experience in enterprise network engineering
Strong hands-on experience with Cisco switching
Experience working with Aruba wireless infrastructure
Experience staging, configuring, and deploying enterprise network hardware
Ability to review and implement enterprise network architecture designs
Experience supporting large-scale network deployment or refresh initiatives
Preferred
Experience supporting multi-site network refresh programs
Experience with enterprise wireless deployments
Familiarity with network automation or configuration management tools
Experience working within large enterprise network environments
