In this role, you will design, automate, and operate Kubernetes-based platforms that support mission-critical applications. You'll work closely with engineers across infrastructure, application, and data teams to improve reliability, scalability, and developer productivity while helping shape the future of the organization's platform ecosystem.

Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a W2 basis. For our W2 consultants, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage, 401(k) with company matching, and life insurance.

Rate: $65 - $70 / hr. w2

    • Workload scheduling and autoscaling
    • RBAC and security controls
    • Network policies
    • Helm, Kustomize, and Operators
  • Build and maintain self-service developer platforms and golden-path templates on Kubernetes.
  • Implement and support CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Argo CD, or Flux (GitOps).
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using tools like Terraform and Ansible.
  • Manage container image pipelines and registries (Docker).
  • Operate workloads in public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform), including:
    • Networking
    • IAM
    • Cost optimization
  • Implement and support observability solutions, including:
    • Metrics (Prometheus, Grafana)
    • Logging (ELK / OpenSearch)
    • Distributed tracing
  • Work with service mesh and API gateway technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
  • Participate in Agile delivery using Scrum or Kanban.
  • Collaborate across teams to resolve technical blockers and reduce platform risk.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to platform design decisions and best practices.
Secondary Requirements (Java / Spring Boot - Important)
  • Design and develop microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Microservices architecture
    • RESTful APIs
    • Event-driven design patterns
  • Containerize and deploy Java applications to Kubernetes.
  • Tune JVM performance for containerized environments.
  • Experience with build and quality tooling (Maven or Gradle, unit and integration testing, static analysis).
Nice to Have (Event Streaming)
  • Experience with Apache Kafka, including:
    • Topic and consumer group design
    • Offset management
    • Schema evolution (Avro or Protobuf)
  • Familiarity operating Kafka on Kubernetes (e.g., Strimzi or enterprise distributions).
  • Exposure to stream processing frameworks such as Kafka Streams, Apache Flink, or Spark Structured Streaming.

Experience Requirements:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and operating production Kubernetes environments.
  • 2+ years supporting workloads on a public cloud platform.
  • Proven experience building enterprise-scale DevOps or platform engineering solutions.
  • Strong technical design, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.

Education Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
