Job Details

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented BIM/VDC Designer to create and maintain detailed 3D models for electrical construction projects.

The BIM/VDC Designer will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, field personnel, and other construction trades to develop coordinated electrical models and installation drawings. This person will help identify design conflicts, develop practical and cost-effective solutions, and support projects from coordination through construction and closeout.

The ideal candidate has experience using BIM software in a construction environment and understands how electrical systems are designed, coordinated, and installed in the field.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain detailed 3D BIM models for electrical systems
  • Model conduit, cable tray, lighting, power distribution, and electrical equipment
  • Participate in multi-trade coordination with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and structural teams
  • Perform clash detection and help resolve design and installation conflicts
  • Produce coordinated installation drawings and shop drawings for field personnel
  • Support construction sequencing, planning, and visualization through BIM models
  • Generate spool drawings and model assemblies for electrical prefabrication
  • Assist with field layout and verification using BIM-based layout technology
  • Maintain accurate model documentation throughout the project lifecycle
  • Support the development of as-built models at project completion
  • Participate in coordination meetings and project planning discussions
  • Complete assigned work within project scope, budget, and schedule
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, designers, and field teams
  • Present practical and cost-effective solutions to design and coordination issues

Qualifications
  • Experience as a BIM/VDC Designer, BIM Coordinator, Electrical Designer, or similar role
  • Proficiency with BIM software, preferably Revit and Navisworks
  • Experience creating detailed 3D construction models
  • Understanding of clash detection and multi-trade coordination
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and meet project deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Experience identifying design conflicts and developing practical solutions

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working for an electrical contractor
  • Knowledge of electrical construction methods and installation practices
  • Experience modeling conduit, cable tray, power distribution, lighting, and equipment
  • Experience producing shop drawings, spool drawings, or prefabrication models
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar tools
  • Experience supporting field layout or as-built documentation
  • Commercial construction experience
